Hot Days are Here to Stay

In our industry, there are many workers doing intense labor outside all day long. With this hot weather, it is important that we know how to take care of our bodies and know when we are suffering from heat exhaustion. Follow these steps to help prevent heat from hurting your body:

1. Wear proper clothing. Light weight and light colored clothing is the best to wear during a heat wave.

2. Make sure you are drinking the right amount fluids to prevent dehydration. Electrolyte sports drinks are just as important as water!

3. Avoid moderate to intense workouts that require being outside. If these workouts are unavoidable, limit the amount of time doing them.

4. Do not drink caffeine or alcohol. These beverages can make you lose more fluid and worsen heat exhaustion.
